Milestone

Woo-Hoo, I did it!! I have gone 2 full weeks without any red wine!!


This may seem like a simple accomplishment however it is a milestone for me. A real turning point in my lifestyle. It is not the wine that is problematic, it is at what time of day I drink it. It doesn't matter how many health promoting qualities red wine has if you are not consuming it the way it is intended, it isn't going to be good for you!
I look forward to the day of preparing a feast for family and friends and enjoying a glass of red wine while enjoying the meal and the company. 
The health promoting quality in red wine,  the resveratrol, an anti-oxidant component that is found in the seeds,skin and flesh of the grape, can be found  in fresh locally grown vegetables and fruit. 
So, if you are anything like me, drinking a glass of red wine, is for enjoyment not for its health promoting properties! That is just a nice bonus!
I am a work in progress and will continue to work towards my goal of losing 11 more lbs by April 30th by making significant yet small changes to my lifestyle.
I will keep in mind one glass of red (6ounces) has 150 empty calories. Today there is no room in my plan for empty calories!
