Whether you are running a full marathon, 1/2 marathon, 10km run, fuel up with a good breakfast each day prior to the run. You need energy ( I call it fuel) to get you through. Try this recipe!
Crunchy Hot Oats;
Fuel your day with Breakfast, reap the rewards, a Personal Best Time!
Ingredients:
2 tbsp. of organic coconut oil
1 cup of Steel Cut Oats
3 cups of water
¼ cup walnuts
¼ cup chopped apple
Dash of cinnamon & nutmeg
1 tbsp. of Canadian maple syrup
Directions:
Save time and start the night before. It is real easy and will save you 15mins. In a pot add 1 cup of oats and cover with water, place on stove-top covered overnight. Early in the morning, add more water, coconut oil, heat, stir for approximately 3-5mins. add cinnamon & nutmeg while stirring. When cooked top with apple and walnuts with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Your body needs fuel for long runs. If you happen to finish a long run and are ravenous, your body is telling you, you didn't consume enough carbohydrates prior to the run and it consumed fuel from its muscle stores, vital muscle your body needs and depleted essential minerals within your muscles. Take care and make sure you are getting the right amount of carbohyrates ( fuel) prior to race day. Your want a personal best (PB) train as well as fuel -up!
Good Luck!!
