Energy Drinks

Energy Drinks,

As any Mom or Dad we all try our best to educate our children and teenagers about making good food and drink choices. I believe we all want our kids to eat & be well. I find it frustrating when I see a commercial about energy drinks during my kids TV program or when I am at the grocery store and at the checkout counter there is a display of energy drinks.
While as parents we realize these sophisticated marketing campaigns are designed to influence our kids thus our pockets, our kids don't realize that and can become seduced into believing these drinks give us more energy.
I was having a brief conversation with a fellow hockey Mom on the weekend and this subject came up, so I thought I would write about it. In the conversation there was mention of Pepsi and Coca-Cola adjusting its products in order to supply the demands of the healthy shopper. To prevent greater profit loss, these companies need to adapt. Whatever products they do market and sell to the consumer will never give anyone real energy. Buyer Beware.

I guess, we can do the best we can, which sadly means at some point I am the bad guy when I say No to the energy drink. Well since I am Mom, I am up for being the bad guy when it is worth it!
